The Autumn 1989 issue of Sierra News Magazine contains a feature on Sierra's (then) four-man music crew, with particular emphasis on Mark Seibert and Stuart Goldstein. While Mark's musical contributions are easily appreciable, Stuart also played a particularly important, though less audible role, with regard to Sierra's early SCI sound integration, drivers, and synthesizer support. Curiously, Stuart departed Sierra (voluntarily?) not long after the article was written. A software sequencer is mentioned that would, presumably, have been marketed by Sierra. Did this have anything to do with his departure? Or, was it simply that, once the SCI groundwork was in place, he was no longer needed?

I can't seem to find the Autumn 1989 issue, so I can't comment on the article. I'm not aware of Sierra using an in-house software sequencer for their own projects --- the raw MIDI files from SCI1 games at least were all in Voyetra Sequencer Plus Gold format, then saved as standard MIDI files converted to "Sierra Music Files" (.snd) using the "Sierra Music File compiler".

I get the feeling that the in-house sequencer was never finished.

The August 1989 issue can be found here, at SierraGamers:

If my memory serves correctly, The Sierra Vault took over web operations for Ken Williams at the SierraGammers website...I believe.
