Hi,
wouldn't be some Roland LAPC-I user so kind and could please record these 3 xmi files? They are my favorite games tracks, but I've never heard them in the original MT32/LAPCI form. No GM versions exist, only the LAPC-I. Probably they would sound correctly on a MT-32 too, but I've read here that there are some differencies between LAPC-I, MT-32 v.1, v.2, CM-32L, CM-64... I only know for sure that these xmidis were composed for the LAPC-I. Thanks.

I'll make some recordings of them on my MT-32 first. gen and CM-32L tomorrow. If someone else can make recordings on the LAPC-I and maybe an MT-32 second gen., we can try to spot the differences. Smiley

Thank you very much!
I'm a moron. I forgot that all of these xmi files have for an unknown reason the tempo slowed down 2x. Although these are the original rips from the game without any tweaks or editing (and they play in the right tempo within the game), they have the tempo double-slowed in the xmi files. I'm so sorry I didn't recall it when I sent them to you.
My bad. Of course, it would be inconvenient to ask you to record them again, because you allready did, and this was completely my fault. Anyway, even with this unbearable slow tempo I like very much the sounds of the instruments, they are surprisingly warm. Thanks. I'll try to 2x speed them up in an audio editor, I think it may be possible somehow.

You may also send the .MID files (with correct tempo). I don't mind to record them again. I suspected it was way too slow anyay, I played these files with system shock player (a command line player) and i tried to convert them with xmi2mid dos ultility, but both gave me about the same speed.

Btw. I just saw on your website that you also own the original Roland SCC-1 card. Would you mind, please please, also record few GM xmidis below (or some of them) with the SCC-1? Roll Eyes I would be most grateful.

I've changed the recordings to the correct ones, the links in my first post are valid for the new files (with correct speed) now.
Note how the "WALKM" file is different on the CM32L, it uses some of the sound effects not present in the first gen MT-32. Smiley

As for the SCC-1 recordings, I will have to make them later as I don't have a PC connected with ISA slots at the moment. I still have to create something that I can use the card externally through the midi port. I know this is possible but I don't have the time to do it.

Thank you for the recordings Smiley. That's a nice sound. Finally I can hear my favorite game tunes in the original form. It's interesting that MT-32 first gen. runs out of polyphony in walkf and walkm, probably it was composed fot the second gen., LAPC-I or CM-32L (CM32L examples allready sound fine).

As to SCC-1, thanks, no need to hurry. When you someday will have a time and a PC with ISA slot, I would be grateful for the recording. There's absolute no hurry about it. I'll gladly wait.

BTW: I have a first gen. MT-32 and the LAPC-I. IMO they sound a little bit differently (the LAPC slighty better). So the LAPC-I sounds like a MT-32 second gen?

I always thought that an LAPC-I and CM-32L are virtually the same (both mt-32 rev.2 'engines'  and both share the extra sound effects that the real MT-32 second gen lacks).
