Apparently, our 'new' host had a major security breach today and service was down for several hours. My domain was inaccessible even longer because file permissions were changed on all of my root directory files, not allowing any access to my site. Is someone out to get me, or what? Anyway, we're back in business now.

I sure hope you use a decent encryption method on the database.

Apparently, several servers (including the one Dianne is parked on) are still under severe attack. I understand the FBI are now involved. Dianne's been down all day. My account is on a different 'node' (whatever that means) and isn't currently being attacked.

Hope this place doesn't get attacked again. Either way, I yearn to put a curse on whoever did it.

I sure hope you use a decent encryption method on the database. Unfortunately, most forums don't use any type of encryption on the database (this includes paid-for forums such as Invision Power Board and vBulletin)

Most forums store the passwords in encrypted (hashed) form in the database, this includes SMF. The only way to find the password is brute-force, so it all depends on how good your password is in the first place...

I was unable to reach this place for a little while the other day. Hopefully the storm is really past now.

Those kind of people are just people who think they're the cats ass, but in reality, they can only attack small sites. They are either too scared or too lame to attack a big company like vivendi, so they just attack smaller sites for the kick of it. Then they report it to their nerdy pimple-faced dork friends, and they all think he's so cool. It sickens me.

It would be cool if they DID attack Vivendi, though. Then SQ7 could be completed and released while Vivendi has their hands full with the attacker!
